[Music Monday] Miley Cyrus + Notorius B.I.G., Oh Yes

Image via Inquisitr

I am so all about mashing up two amazing artists. Like Britney and Prince, Madonna and Pharell, some things just go together. And if you mix a musical genius (Biggy) with a teeny bopper who performs candy-coated pop songs (Miley), you get a song that will either a) make your head explode, or b) get you through the day thinking the world is a better, more pleasant and unified, place. This mix of Miley with B.I.G. seems to do both.

Oh, I'm so happy just listening to it again. And again. Aaaand maybe once more. Okay, I'm done.

[Music Monday] Cillo

Dude. Cillo takes legit songs (by my faves like Bon Iver, Metric, Passion Pit and MGMT) and makes them even more legit. No words, except I'm living it.

[Music Monday] Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites

via Jillboard

I have to tell you, I've been listening to a TON of Skrillex lately. It's just angry enough and just dancey enough to fit my exact frenzied state of mind for the last two weeks. Also great to listen to while anger-baking bread (what? you don't do that?). I'm sure that's not the sort of purpose this music was intended for, so I also listen to it while I'm getting ready to go out on Friday nights, and I hope to catch him when he's on tour this summer. He'll be in LA on August 6, which may require me to fly down there for an extra special dance party. If ya must know.

[Music Monday] Afrojack Remix of David Guetta's Snoop Dogg "Sweat" Remix

Okay, so this one has three layers of song to it: Snoop Dogg's original song, "Sweat," which is classic Snoop fare; David Guetta's electro remix of the song, which is also typical David Guetta fare; and, finally, a dubstep mix of the David Guetta mix. It's pretty badass, and it reminds me of the totally guilty pleasure dance music I heard all night in Las Vegas.

[Music Monday] Eagerly Awaiting Femme Fatale March 15

I absolutely love the title of Britney's new album, but that's also because I'm a total sucker for Britney Spears. Maybe it's because I feel like I grew up with her, only I got to keep my childhood while hers was manufactured and controlled by her managers, parents, and non-friends. I feel for the girl. But I also think she knows how to pick up a dance tune and make it ring through your ears just the way you want it to. Here's to femme fatales everywhere, and not being afraid of owning our femininity and being a wee bit intimidating in the process.

[Music Monday] New Cut Copy

Cut Copy will release a new album in February (tentatively Feb. 8th as I understand it). That means more dancey, synthy, fun times.

Confession: Though I'm totally looking forward to hearing the songs themselves, I'm even more stoked to hear all the remixes on Hype Machine.

Check out their new single, "Take Me Over."
